The Golden Eagles baseball team played their long-awaited season opener on Sunday at Dover City Park and dropped a doubleheader to visiting Miami Hamilton.

KSU Tusc was shutout in the first game by the Harriers 12-0, as they struggled to find any offense and were limited to just two hits---singles by Scott Sauernheimer and Charlie Drumm. MUH (19-6) came into the game fresh off a seven-game win streak and a trip through the southern states and was firing on all cylinders and pounded out 11 hits.

The Harriers led 7-0 after five innings and plated five runs in the top half of the seventh to squelch any Golden Eagles uprising. Nine KSU Tusc batters were struck out in the game.

The neophyte Eagles fared a little better in the second game as they held the Miami Hamilton batters off until the fourth and fifth innings when they scored six runs. MUH broke open a close game, 3-1, with a four-run fourth inning and then tallied two more in the fifth for a 9-1 lead.

The Golden Eagles loaded the bases and added a pair of runs in the last of the seventh to close the final score to 12-3. Sebastian Hanlin and Cole Lancaster both had doubles---the only extra base hits for the Eagles who collected five hits in the game---as seven navy and gold batters went down on strikes.

Next up for the Eagles is a trip to Cincinnati Clermont when they face the Cougars in a Saturday doubleheader and a single nine-inning game on Sunday.
