
Kent State University Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2025 Zane Trace High School senior to their baseball team.
Coen Larson has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.
Academically, Larson has earned Academic High Honors each year from 2022 through 2025 and is a two-year National Honor Society member. He has been recognized with multiple academic awards, including French Student of the Year (2024), American History Student of the Year (2022), and America at War Student of the Year (2023). Through the Ohio University-Chillicothe College Credit Plus program, Larson made the Provost's List from 2023 to 2025 while completing college-level coursework alongside his high school.
Larson is a multi-sport varsity athlete, showcasing his talent and versatility across four sports. In football, he played in 2023 and 2024, serving as the speaking captain and earning Defensive Back of the Year twice. He capped his senior season by being named First Team All-Conference in 2025. On the basketball court, he played all four years, receiving the Korky Raiders Sportsmanship Award in both 2024 and 2025 and being named Defensive Player of the Year in 2024. On the diamond, Larson has been a key contributor for the Zane Trace baseball team since 2022. He served as the leadoff batter, starting first baseman, and played multiple positions including second base, center field, and outfield, helping his team to a conference championship. He also competed for the varsity track team in 2022.
Outside of athletics, Larson has consistently demonstrated leadership and service. He served on the Prom Committee in 2024 and represented Zane Trace as an American Red Cross Ambassador in both 2024 and 2025. A committed member of the Drug Free Club of America all four years, he also boasts a decade of involvement in 4H, where he rose through the ranks from Activities Coordinator to Vice President, and eventually President in 2024 and 2025. In addition, Larson has worked as a baseball umpire for the Scioto Valley Youth Baseball League from 2023 through 2025, further displaying his dedication to youth mentorship and community engagement.
Coen Larson will pursue his college baseball career while continuing to grow as a student and leader.
