Lourdes Takes Down Golden Eagles 82-43

The Lourdes Gray Wolves decisive height advantage and impressive shooting took down the Golden Eagles for the second time in as many weeks with an 82-43 victory at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center in Sylvania, Ohio. The hosts led 9-8 before mounting a 10 point run to take command 19-8, before finishing the first half outscoring the Navy and Gold 24-12 the rest of the way to take a 43-20 lead at the intermission.

For the game the Golden Eagles struggled to find the basket, as they made just 17/58 action shots for 29% on the night. From distance they managed only 6/27 for 22% and had a tough night at the free throw line as well making just 3/8 uncontested chances. The much taller Gray Wolves shot 55% for the game and won the rebounding battle 46-26 while converting on 20 fast break points off KSU Tusc misses. The hosts also dominated the paint outscoring the Eagles 38-18.

Gunnar Tharp led Golden Eagles in scoring with 10 points, while Malik Campbell and Drew Williams added eight apiece. Campbell also grabbed five rebounds, dished out five assists and recorded five steals on the night. Jacob Hicks also grabbed five caroms.

On Sunday, December 30, 2018, the Golden Eagles who are now 2-10 on the year, play at Hiram College in a 2 p.m. start.
