Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2019 St. Thomas Aquinas High School (STA) senior to their basketball team. On April 8, 2019, Jamon Thompson signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles.
Thompson was a two-year letter winner for the Knights basketball team and also lettered in football as a running back during his senior season. He averaged nine points per game, shot 95% from the free throw line and 53% from the floor, while also dishing out more than five assists per game. He is a member of the STA Honor Roll and is currently organizing a mentoring program for sixth grade students at St. Thomas Aquinas.
"Jamon is a real find for our campus and basketball team," said Rich Tharp, Head Basketball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "His academic record is solid and he has very high moral character which really makes him stand out amongst his peers. He is very well-liked and a great ambassador for St. Thomas Aquinas on and off the athletic stage. We are proud of what he's accomplished so far and can't wait to see what is next for him."
Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
