Triskaidekaphobia strikes fear into millions of people.

But thirteen was a good number for the Kent State Tuscarawas basketball team on Thursday afternoon as they rolled over Southern State Community College 106-49 in Founders Hall Gym. All 13 Golden Eagles cracked the scoring column and four players lead the way scoring 13 points apiece.

The game was never really in doubt as the Navy and Gold sprinted to a 54-33 halftime lead, getting 30 points from their bench and converting on 12 first half three-point shots. At one point they led by 30 points as Mike Huberty banged home 11 points in the opening half.

The Golden Eagles employed a full court pressure defense and limited the Patriots to just 16 second half points, while they exploded for 52 with the non-starters getting the bulk of the playing minutes. The Eagles got 64% (68 points) of their scoring from their bench.

Joining Huberty in double digits were starters, Braden Rostad and Gunnar Tharp, along with reserves Jeremy Allen and Arthur Jackson who all scored 13 points apiece. Tharp knocked down three treys to lead the team, while Allen, Huberty, Rostad and Jamon Thompson each made two long range bombs.

For the game, the winners made 16 triples and converted on 15/22 charity tosses (68%).

With victory the Golden Eagles raised their record to 4-8 on the year, while Southern State fell to 0-10.

The Eagles host the Black Bears from Pennsylvania Highlands on Friday, Dec. 20th in a 2:00 p.m. tipoff. It's their last game before the Christmas holiday until Saturday, Dec. 28th when they host Lourdes University at 2:00 p.m. The Gray Wolves are coached by Ohio State's all-time leading scorer and 1987 Big Ten Player of the Year, Dennis Hopson.
