NORFOLK, VA - March 24, 2021

DeJuan Lawrence of Kent State Tuscarawas has been named the USCAA Men's Basketball National Player of the Week. Lawrence, a native of Akron, Ohio and a Kenmore High School graduate, recorded his seventh double-double on the season last week in 11 games. In a game against Penn Highlands, Lawrence had 20 points on perfect 8/8 shooting from the floor and 4/4 from the free throw line. He also added eight rebounds, five blocks, 2 steals and an assist in the 84-74 win over the Bears. Against Clark State in the final game of the season, Lawrence scored 24 points and hauled down 17 rebounds. He shot 10/14 from the field and 4/6 from the free throw line, to go along with 3 blocks, 2 assists and a steal. For the week he amassed 44 points (22 ppg), 25 rebounds (12.5 per game), shot 18/22 from the floor and 8/10 from the charity stripe. He also logged 8 blocks, 5 assists and 3 steals.

On the season, Lawrence, a 6' 8" junior, was the Golden Eagles leading scorer with 180 points and a 16.4ppg average. He ranked 5th in total points scored in the USCAA, and 9th in scoring average and 5th in total points scored. He was also tops in the USCAA with 12.6 rebounds per game, first in total rebounds with 139---37 better than the nearest competitor---first in offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding with 47 and 92 rebounds respectively in those catergories. Lawrence was third in made field goal percentage, making 61.4% of his shot attempts.

His recognition as a national player of the week makes him a very strong candidate for a USCAA All-American award.
