Lakewood Senior Commits To Tusc MBB

Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2024 Lakewood (Hebron, OH) High School senior to their men's basketball team.

Late Friday afternoon Kolin Watson signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.

Watson, primarily a shooting guard/point guard, was a one-year letterman for the Lancers, who play in the Licking County League (LCL) of the OHSAA's DII Central District. As a junior he earned a varsity letter at Newark High School on a Wildcats team that won a 2023 district championship title. He was voted as a 2024 Honorable Mention in the Cardinal Division of the LCL and the Lakewood Defensive Player of The Year, while leading the red, blue and white in made three-point field goals and assists.

His community service includes helping with cleanup activities at The Dawes Arboretum in Newark, OH, packing back packs with school supplies and snacks for less fortunate children and trash pickup and landscaping work around Newark High School.

He is undecided on degree program at Kent State Tuscarawas.

"We are happy to have a young man of Kolin's basketball acumen on our team," said KSU Tuscarawas Head Basketball Coach Richard Tharp. "His range and ability to be a triple threat on the court as a shooter, assist leader and quarterback of the team is a rare find in basketball. We expect Kolin to come in and have an immediate impact on the directionality of our team."
