The Golden Eagles golf team did not enjoy the showers at the beginning of the final round of the Gatorade Collegiate at Zoar Golf Club on Sunday, but they did relish in the fruits of an afternoon splashed with sunshine and a season low team total of 316. Despite the improvement, the Eagles remained in eighth place in the final standings.

The day started with KSU Tusc in eighth place in a 12-team field after carding an opening round 330 on Saturday that saw many missed opportunities. The Navy and Gold however, got improved play from all four spots in their lineup to carve 14 strokes off their opening effort.

Saturday's team leader Nick Reeder (North Union/Richwood,OH) duplicated his Saturday total of 78, but reversed the scores on the outbound and inward sides with a 38/40/78. He finished with three birdies and eight pars and recorded a total of five birdies and 18 pars and an aggregate score of 156 for the two-day tournament.

Dakota Wright (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia,OH) went out in 40 to start his Sunday round and came home in 38 to card a 78 and two-day total of 162. He had two birdies and eight pars to bring his weekend total to two birdies and 15 pars.

Freshmen Austin Brooks (Cortland Lakeview/Warren,OH) improved his play by six strokes with a 39/41/80 and Cameron McIntosh (Harrison Central/Hopedale,OH) went 40/40/80 shaving two strokes off his opening round. Brooks shot an 86 on Saturday and made two birdies and six pars on Sunday while converting on three birdies and 11 pars for the tournament. Meanwhile, McIntosh had a birdie and nine pars on Sunday and finished with two birdies and 18 pars for the classic.

On Thursday, September 9th the Golden Eagles will play in the Grove City College Invitational in Pennsylvania.
