Wright-Led Eagles Deliver Solid Round, T5th At Thiel

Like the postman, the Golden Eagles Golf Team lugged their bags through periods of rain, sleet, snow and sunshine on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles finished in a tie for fifth in the six-team Thiel College Spring Invitational on the Avalon at Buhl Park golf course with a team score of 336. They ended the day just 14 strokes behind champion Westminster College (322) in their first-ever appearance at the course located in Hermitage, PA.

Dakota Wright delivered the mail for KSU Tusc with an opening nine of 41 and came home in 38 for an admiral round of 79 in the blustery 35-degree temperatures. Wright posted six straight pars to end his round and finished tied for third as an individual in a field of 38 golfers.

Nick Reeder also fired an inward nine of 38, after an opening round of 42 to card an 80 which placed him in a tie for sixth overall. Cameron McIntosh shot 40/44/84 and was 16th, while Austin Brooks and Scott Sauernheimer both ended with rounds of 48/45/93.

On Monday, the Eagles travel to Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg, PA, to play in the Washington & Jefferson College Rossin Memorial Invitational.

Team Standings – Westminster 322, Grove City 323, St. Vincent 330, Thiel 331, Kent State Tuscarawas 336, Waynesburg 336.
