Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2024 Indian Valley High School senior to their men's golf team.

On Monday afternoon, Austen Gunn signed a National Letter of Intent to tee it up for the Golden Eagles.

Gunn, a four-year letterwinner for the Braves, led his team with the lowest nine-hole average (38) for all four years of high school golf. As a freshman he earned Second Team Inter Valley Conference (IVC) as well as Second Team All-East District honors. He was voted to First Team All-IVC and First Team All-District during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. He was a three-time district golf tournament qualifier, his team took top honors at the Dover Invitational in 2022 and he has recorded one hole-in-one in his short career.

He has a cumulative GPA of 3.07 and plans to double major with a Bachelor's in Information Technology and a Bachelor's of Business Administration – Business Management at Kent State Tuscarawas. His community service includes working at the Indian Valley High School Fundraiser Golf Outing from 2021 thru 2023. 

"When Indian Valley Golf Coach Bryan Lehigh described Austen as very respectful, enthusiastic, honest and dependable he wasn't kidding," said Rob Brindley, Head Golf Coach at Kent State Tuscarawas. "I have been watching Austen since his freshman season and have seen him grow exponentially as a person and an athlete. He has a great work ethic, is mentally tough and very sincere in his encouragement of his teammates. I am excited to have him as a Golden Eagles student athlete, because he embodies the true spirit of team and soaring above."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
