Yellow Jackets Davidson Now A Golden Eagles Softball Commit

Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2024 Mount Vernon High School senior to their softball team.

On Tuesday, Abby Davidson signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.

Davidson is on track to be a four-year letterwinner for the Yellow Jackets softball team who are defending Ohio Cardinal Conference (OCC) Champions and OHSAA DI Central District Runner Up in 2023. As a sophomore she earned the Coach's Award and was also named Rookie of the Year as a freshman when she batted over .500 and earned a 3.5 GPA.

She has earned an Academic Letter and has been named to the Honor Roll every quarter, is a member of the National Technical Honor Society, serves on student council and has passed the State Tested Nursing Assistant Licensure. Davidson has certifications in CPR, BLS, Electrocardiogram Technician, and is the Health Tech Lab Vice President in high school and scored highly in the Honors Ensemble for Band.

Davidson's community service includes, developing projects for the New Directions Women's Shelter, volunteering at Head Start, participation in a first grade reading event at Columbia Elementary, assisted in the Knox County Career Center Red Ribbon Week and Food for the Hungry campaigns. She had also helped with many youth softball camps in the Mount Vernon School District.

She will pursue a Bachelors of Art's degree in Psychology at Kent State Tuscarawas.

"We are excited for Abby to join us," said KSU Tuscarawas Head Softball Coach Larry Schall. "Abby brings a lot of power to the plate and plays smart defense at first base. She is a great student and an awesome young lady with a great attitude and work ethic."
