Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2019 Newcomerstown High School senior to their women's basketball team. On February 25, 2019, Jade Johnson signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles.

Johnson was a four-year letter winner for the Trojans basketball team and lettered in multiple sports at NHS. She earned three-year letters in volleyball and track & field, while also winning the Best of Tusc award twice for track. She has accumulated the Most Field Event Points in track & field three times at Newcomerstown, scored to Most Overall Points in track & field once, was named to the Second Team Inter Valley Conference track team twice, and served as volleyball team captain. Johnson has earned a Scholar Letter four straight years in high school, was inducted into the NHS National Honor Society, and is on the President's List having earned a 4.0 GPA or better each of her four years. She will also run track for the Golden Eagles.

"Jade is a welcome addition to our athletic program," said Wallace Stuchul, Head Women's Basketball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "She will be able to shore up the middle of the defense in the lane and I am looking forward to her rebounding awareness. She has the kind of skill that is almost second nature."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
