Golden Eagles Fall in Tri to OVU 36-19

The Kent State Tuscarawas Wrestling Team bounced back in the final match of a tri at Lourdes University, but fell short in losing to NCAA Division II foe Ohio Valley University 36-19. On the day, the Golden Eagles were 0-2 losing the opening match to host Lourdes. 

The Fighting Scots led 12-0 by virtue of a forfeit and a technical fall before the Navy and Gold got going and won the next three matches. Jerome Tucker (Uhrichsville, OH / Claymont) won a major decision 9-1 in the 141 pound class and was followed by forfeit wins by both Lane Householder (Thornville, OH / Sheridan) and Collin Mancuso (Milan, OH / Edison) in the 149 and 157 divisions to give the Golden Eagles a short-lived 16-12 advantage. 

Mason Contini was the only over Golden Eagle wrestle able to salvage a victory in the last five matches, as he scored a 4-2 decision in the 184 pound division.

The Golden Eagles host a quad on Saturday, December 8 at noon with Otterbein University, University of Toledo and Mott University.
