Eagles Gain Second Match Win In PSU Beaver Tri Match Split

On Saturday, the Kent State Tuscarawas volleyball team split matches in a tri match at Penn State Beaver in Monaca, PA. In the first match the Golden Eagles beat Potomac State 3-2, but they lost in the nightcap to PSU Beaver. The Golden Eagles are now 2-5 on the season.

Against Potomac State, the Eagles needed five sets to claim their second victory on the season and took the odd numbered sets winning the first, third and fifth sets. They started fast winning the first set 25-17, but lost the second 25-20 before taking the lead in the match with a victory in the third set 25-21. After falling 25-18 in the fourth set, the Navy and Gold battled their way to a 26-24 win in the final set.

Karlee Peach had 35 assists and 5 digs for the KSU and Mya Blochlinger had 26 kills, 11 digs and six service aces. Morgain Little had an all-around good game with 11 kills, six blocks, five digs and five service aces. Mackenzie Sentz also contributed 10 digs.

Beaver took the opening set of the final match 25-18, but the Navy and Gold rose to the challenge in the second set and took an eight-point lead midway through the set before losing steam and falling 27-25. The hosts closed out the match by taking the final set 25-15. Once again, Blochlinger led the Eagles with 17 kills raising her total kills on the season to 91. She also added 7 digs and one block. Little added nine kills, Ciera Romig had eight digs and Sentz had six, while Peach had 24 assists.

The Golden Eagles be visit Akron Wayne on Wednesday, September 11 for a dual match.
