Cortney Goodwin is a very accomplished volleyball coach, having amassed 47 years of coaching experience at the high school level and played on a state qualifying team while in high school. Her desire to master the game led to 9 stints as a high school varsity head coach and 15 years of club coaching experience. Her high school coaching record is a sterling 260-73.

She also has vast experience as a volleyball camp and club director. She is currently the director of the Eastern Ohio Volleyball Club (7 years) and a lead camp instructor for Matchpoint volleyball camp (9 years) where she is mentored by Steve Colpus, a retired Ohio State University assistant coach and former National Coach of the Senior & Junior Women’s Volleyball staff for eight years. Her high school coaching career spans four high schools, including Massillon Jackson (2 years), Tuscarawas Valley (2 years), Claymont (2 years) and Sandy Valley (3 years). Her teams won six league championships, four sectional titles, three district crowns, two regional trophies, made two final four appearances and was a state runner-up.

Coach Goodwin has been recognized by her peers as a seven-time league Coach of the Year, six-time district Coach of the Year, 2020 Stark County Hall of Fame Volleyball Coach of the Year and she also earned the 2017 State of Ohio Coaches Achievement Award. She has coached 12 All-Ohioans and 14 of her players have gone on the play at the collegiate level.

She has tons of coaching experience and is adept at player development. She designs practice plans and runs team practices, manages weekend tournaments and leads team volleyball camps. Her interactions with high school coaches and players over the last 20 years will certainly aid in recruiting and building our volleyball program.

Goodwin has completed certifications in concussion in sports, first aid and fundamentals of coaching. She is a graduate of Ohio State University ATI and owns her own business “Wedding Designs by Cortney”.
