Steve Colpus is in his third season as an assistant coach with the Kent State University at Tuscarawas volleyball program, bringing a wealth of national and international coaching experience to the Golden Eagles. With over two decades of coaching at elite levels, Steve has established himself as a respected leader and developer of talent in the volleyball community.
A highly credentialed coach, Steve holds numerous certifications through USA Volleyball, including IMPACT, CAP I, CAP II, CAP III, and VCAP. He is also internationally certified at the FIVB Level II and has served as a cadre for USA Volleyball, contributing to coach development across the country.
Steve is the director of Matchpoint Volleyball, widely recognized as one of the premier volleyball training and camp organizations in the country. He has earned a stellar reputation as one of the top camp leaders in the sport, known for his technical knowledge and ability to connect with athletes at all levels.
Internationally, Steve served as the National Coach for both the Senior and Junior Women’s Volleyball Teams in England. He was also the long-time head coach of the most successful women’s club team in Great Britain, leading the program to multiple championships and setting a benchmark for excellence in the UK volleyball scene.
In the U.S., Steve spent eight years on the coaching staff of the Ohio State University Women’s Volleyball program and five years with the renowned NORCO Volleyball Club in Colorado. During his tenure with NORCO, he guided teams to medals at the USA Volleyball Nationals and victories at several National Qualifiers in the highly competitive Open Division.
Before joining Kent State Tuscarawas, Steve served as an assistant coach at the Oregon Institute of Technology, where he played a pivotal role in helping the team reach the NAIA National Finals for the first time in school history.
