Shenango Men's Basketball Drops Season Opener to Kent State Tuscarawas

New Philadelphia, OH - The long-awaited return to the hardwood became a reality on Tuesday for The Shenango Lions, as they dropped a fast-paced contest to Kent State Tuscarawas 108-88. Shenango started off strong in the first half as Jashun Cobb posted 11 pts in leading Shenango to a 32-31 lead.

The Golden Eagles began to pass the rock with a greater ease, and it found Jr Kameron Shockley who drained three triples from behind the arch to help lead Kent State Tuscarawas to a 47-41 Halftime lead.

Shenango battled back in the second half behind Cobb and Malik Weatherington, but they were unable to regain the lead they had established in the first half. The Lions fell victim to an excellent foul shooting Golden Eagles squad, that converted nearly 50 % of their trips to the charity line. There were 57 personal fouls on the night, along with three technical fouls all of which went against Shenango.

The Golden Eagles sandwiched their free throws (30) in with their 56% shooting from the floor (31) to put forth a 61 pt. second half effort in route to a 108-88 victory. Shenango was outrebounded in the contest 33-48 as well.

Cobb led all Penn State scorers with 26 pts on the night. Weatherington, and Dimarius Hill also saw a double-digit tally posting 12 and 13 points respectively.

Penn State Shenango's next contest will feature another road trip, this time to the Steel City, as the battle Point Park University.
