Golden Eagles Bowling Baptized At Buckeye Bakers

The Kent State Tuscarawas Women's Bowling Team made their initial season appearance at the 9th Annual Buckeye Baker Classic on Saturday, January 16, 2021. The long awaited season opener was hosted by HP Lanes in Columbus, Ohio, and was sponsored by the Ohio State Bowling Club.

Golden Eagles bowlers making their first collegiate appearance were freshmen; Carleen Fouts from Lousiville, Ohio, Nicole Gruszecki, Salem, Ohio, Kylie Miklovic from Akron, Ohio, and Madyson Robbins of New Philadelphia. A bout of strep throat kept former New Philadelphia Quakers bowler, Paige Keller, from participating.

The Eagles finished 10th of 10 teams in the women's varsity division as they rolled a team total of 2348 for 20 bakers on the day. Their high game came in the first set with a 488, followed by a 486, 452 and 464. The University of Pikeville won both the men's and women's divisions on the day with scores of 4941 and 4799 respectively to top the field.

Next up for the ladies is their first-ever appearnace in an Ohio Bowling Conference (OBC) Tournament, which will be held on Saturday, January 30th back at HP Lanes in Columbus. The OBC is a 22-member conference with noted teams from Northern Kentucky Univeristy, University of Cincinnati, Muskingum University, Miami,Ohio, Robert Morris University, Shawnee State University and Lourdes University on the roster.
