Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2018 Fairless High School senior to their baseball team. On June 10, 2018, Andrew Zimmer signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles.

Zimmer was a three-year varsity letter winner for the Falcons baseball team and served as team captain his senior season when he also earned the Team MVP award. He led FHS in RBI's during his final season and had a team-low 1.51 ERA as a pitcher. He was awarded the Ohio High School Athletic Association Scholar Athlete Award, was named to the Principal's Athletic Conference First Team and was listed in the Stark County Stat Leaders for ERA. Zimmer also earned two varsity letters in golf and one in basketball. In 2017-2018 he was selected as basketball team captain and was a Falcon Award winner. Recently, he received five academic scholarships and was selected as May Teen of the Month in Stark County.

"Andrew is a great catch for our baseball team and we are very fortunate to sign him," said Adam Wilson, Head Baseball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "He certainly has left quite a legacy in athletics and academics at Fairless High School and he will continue to set the bar high at our campus. He gives us some much needed help in pitching, but is also very capable as a hitter as well. He's pretty much the model for the type of players we are looking for---those who can contribute on the field and in the classroom."
