After four cancelled games and a two-week layoff, the Golden Eagles baseball team tried to shake off the rust in the first game of a double header at Bluefield State College but lost 14-5.

The Big Blues tallied three runs in the home half of the first inning and added two more in the second, as wel as a single run in the third to take an early 6-0 lead before the Navy and Gold got on the board. They scored two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to cut the lead to 6-4, highlighted by a Lucas Kail triple and a double by hot hitting freshman, Blaze Clark.

The scoring wasn't enough as the hosts roared back in the bottom of the fifth when they plated seven runs. Most of the damage was done after an opening walk, followed by two passed balls and six BSC hits, the biggest a two-run homer as the deficit grew to 13-4 and the Eagles could not recover.

Clark led the way at the plate for KSU Tusc going 2/3 with a double, single and he scored two runs. Kade Rainsberg was 2/4 with two singles and Lucas Kail had a triple and scored three times.

On the afternoon, the Eagles had nine hits, while the Big Blues had 12.

Cade Cummings was the losing pitcher for the Golden Eagles making his record 2-1 on the season.
