The Kent State Tuscarawas baseball team took to the road and battled with a tough Cuyahoga Community College team before losing 13-3 on Monday night in Parma, Ohio.

Through four and one-half innings the Golden Eagles trailed just 5-3, before a massive eight-run eruption by the Triceratops to cut the game short after five innings. That comeback was fueled by a homerun and some two-out lightning by the winners.

Tri-C scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead on the Navy and Gold, but that lead was cut in half by an Austin Black RBI single in the top of the second as he scored Lucas Kail who singled and stole second. An Easton Guspyt RBI single in the top of the third trimmed the lead again as the Eagles clawed to within 3-2. Tri-C added two more runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-2 lead, but the never-say-die Golden Eagles got another RBI by Guspyt in the top of the fifth to make score 5-3.

The hosts broke the game wide open in the home half of the fifth as they rung up eight runs and scattered seven hits in the shortened contest. A grand slam was the big blast of the inning for Tri-C (23-15) who had 13 hits on the evening.

The Golden Eagles fell to 5-6 on the season and were led by Kail with two singles, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Guspyt knocked in two of the Eagles runs and Black brought home the other.

On Wednesday, KSU Tusc travels to Ohio University Lancaster for a doubleheader that begins at 4:30 p.m.
