Two Golden Eagles Named To USCAA All-Senior Baseball Team

NORFOLK, VA – May 21, 2020

Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing that two Golden Eagles baseball players have been named to a newly created all-senior team.

Due to the crises surrounding the COVID - 19 pandemic and the subsequent cancellation of spring sports, the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) launched a new one-time award this season. The USCAA created a 2020 USCAA All-Senior Baseball Team in lieu of its typical Spring All-American Team. The award highlights the top senior athletes based on their cumulative career statistics and achievements. Recipients were selected by the USCAA and KSU Tusc's Kade Rainsberg and Kyle Stotzer were recognized as two of the top 21 senior baseball players.

Rainsberg, a pitcher/first baseman/outfielder ranked sixth in the USCAA in batting during his junior season with an average of .486. He had a team leading on-base-percentage of .581 and finished the season going 13-20 over the final seven games, knocking in five runs and scoring 11 times.

Stotzer, a third-baseman, had the highest fielding percentage on the team and was tagged "Mr. Reliable" for digging out tough grounders and making putouts. He has been a staple at second and third base for the Golden Eagles and was the team's on-field captain.

"These gentlemen are very deserving for the hard work they put in on the field and in the classroom," said Josh Jarvis, Head Baseball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "Both are multiple-time recipients of Academic All-American status and both have been key contributors in the launch of our baseball program. I congratulate them and they will be sorely missed, but they will also be shining examples for future players of what it means to be a student athlete."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
