Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2024 Newark High School senior to their baseball team.

Dakota Foltz recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball for the Golden Eagles.

Foltz is a two-year letter winner for the Wildcats. He is a utility player who mainly plays outfield and serves as a relief pitcher. As a youth baseball player he won an MVP award and earned a spot on the Ohio High School All-Tournament Team for Baseball Youth Elite. He was also nominated to the Baseball Youth All-American Program.

He has done community service work including volunteering for Special Olympics, and has served as an umpire and assistant coach for youth little league programs. He also volunteers with the Mary Ann Township Fire Department and is involved with fundraising for various programs in his community. He will help this winter with the Jacksontown Youth Basketball Program.

His academic achievements include having a 3.3 GPA throughout his career at Newark High School. He has also been an honors student throughout middle and high school and is a member of the National Honor Society of High School Scholars.

"Dakota brings versatility and speed to our program," said Cole Morozek, Head Baseball Coach at Kent State Tuscarawas. "He is a solid student with a 3.3 GPA and his running speed is going to get him on the field early in his college career. He will compete for a outfield position and pitch out of the bullpen."

Dakota Foltz is surrounded by some of his Newark Wildcat baseball teammates.
