The Kent State Tuscarawas Men's Basketball Team put on a late charge at Penn Highlands, but 46 second half points and a last shot attempt at the basket near the lane were not enough as the Golden Eagles fell 80-78 to the Black Bears on Friday night. The Navy and Gold tied things at 72-72 with a minute left on a three-point basket by Drew Williams (Akron, OH / Kenmore-Garfield) and after the hosts grabbed a 78-72 lead, Trevor Donaldson (Dover, OH / Garaway) hit back-to-back threes to tie things at 78-78 with 10 seconds left. A Penn Highlands shot that was blocked from behind spun in for an 80-78 advantage and a Golden Eagles desperation attempt at the end fell short as the game ended.

Trainling 43-32 at the intermission, the Navy and Gold outscored their hosts by 46-37 in the second half as Mike Huberty (Alliance, OH / Marlington) and Malik Campbell (Canton, OH / Canton South) combined to make nine second half field goals. Huberty, a freshman, converted on eight field goals for the game and scored 21 poiints to lead all scorers, while Campbell, a sophomore transfer added 13 and was the only other Golden Eagles player in double figures on the evening. Nine Golden Eagles scored in the game.

The Golden Eagles next game will be at home on Sunday, December 16, 2018 when they host Andrews University in 2 p.m. start after finals weel. That game will be followed by a home game on Monday, December 17, 2018 against Lourdes University.
