Kent State University Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2019 Lima Central Catholic High School graduate to their men's basketball team. On July 17, 2019, Jeremy Allen, Jr., signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles.

Allen, a combo shooting guard/point guard, was a two-year letter winner for the Thunderbirds basketball team and also lettered in football. He was awarded Player-of-the-Week in basketball by Lima's 93.1, The Fan, radio station and averaged 15 points per game this season. He was also named All-District Honorable Mention on the gridiron. Academically, Allen achieved Honor Roll status for all four years of high school, was recognized at the Honor's Banquet and won multiple Student-of-the-Week awards. He volunteered for the Arbor Day tree planting, was the control booth operator for the senior class play, was a Lima Gators Youth Football coach, a T-Bird Camp advisor, is an active member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and Special Olympics volunteer.

"As a young man, Jeremy certainly brings quite a lengthy resume of accomplishments to our campus," said Richard Tharp, Head Men's Basketball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "His acts of kindness and selflessness in his personal life, along with his drive to meet his academic goals are very commendable and translate directly to his success as a team player on the playing field. He is a wonderful addition to our campus and I expect his athleticism and sense of pride to elevate our team and community."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
