Leavell Among USCAA Elite Basketball Players

Kent State University at Tuscarawas freshman guard Andre Leavell, a Canton McKinley Senior High School product, was named Division 2 Honorable Mention All-American by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Sunday.

Leavell, who earned USCAA Player of the Week honors on February 4, 2020, led the Golden Eagles in points scored, points per game, and rebounding in his first season. He was 10th in points scored in the Association with a team leading 469 points, averaged 16.8 ppg (30th) and cleared 198 missed shots for an average of 7.1 rebounds per game.  He placed eighth overall in field goals made with 191 and shot 54% from the field good enough to earn an 18th place ranking.

On the season, Leavell scored an individual season high 29 points against Wayne College and hauled in a team and individual high of 19 rebounds against Villa Maria College. He recorded five double-doubles, was the Eagles leading scorer in 12 games this season and was leading rebounder 14 times.

He is an Associate's of Science major.
