Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2020 Coshocton High School senior to their men's basketball team. On May 6, 2020, Gaven Williams signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.

Williams was a four-year letter winner for the Redskins basketball team and a three-year letterman in football. As a three-year starter in basketball, he earned numerous accolades during his career including; being named basketball team captain, earning Honorable Mention All-Ohio twice, First Team East Central Ohio League (ECOL) twice, First Team East District twice and Second Team ECOL once. He eclipsed the 1000 point scoring mark and ranks in the top five all-time scorers in Coshocton history, while averaging 16 points per game and scoring more than 20 points in eight games as a senior. Williams averaged 79% from the free throw line during his senior year and made 75% of his free chances over four seasons. He also made 43% of his career field goal attempts.

"We are grateful to have drawn the interest of Gaven and really think he can help us progress," said Richard Tharp, Head Men's Basketball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "Opposing coaches speak highly of him and his progression since his sophomore year. He is a model of consistency, is athletic and has developed great quickness. Playing against bigger schools can tax one's will, but Gaven persisted and became one of the area's top players. As a combo guard there was increased reliance on him to handle the ball, but he had a really low turnover margin which really made him a bigger scoring threat."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
