Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2021 Youngstown Liberty High School graduate to their basketball team. On June 2, 2021, O'Marion Dawson signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.

Dawson, primarily a center, was a two-year letter winner for the Leopards basketball team as well as a two-year starter. He earned Second Team Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference honors, was a Trumbull County Player-of-the-Year nominee, was an All-Trumbull County Honorable Mention and averaged nine points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots per game as a senior.

In the classroom, Dawson had perfect attendance for the 2019-2020 school year. His community service experience includes; Refugee Ministries from 2017-2019, food pantry volunteer for the Churchill UMC Church in 2019 and set-up for church services and private rentals.

He is undecided on a major.

"O'Marion is the very definition of humble and very proficient on the basketball court," said Richard Tharp, Head Basketball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "He has a huge wingspan and is a force in the lane. His ability to block shots and rip away rebounds were the skills that attracted me to him first. He is going to give us some much needed size and presence and will help us dominate inside play. We are proud to have him sign with us and it was great to see the LHS faculty and staff support him during his signing."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
