Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2021 Massillon Washington High School graduate to their basketball team. On June 10, Cameron (Cam) Burgi signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.

Burgi, primarily a guard/small forward, was a three-year member of the Tigers varsity basketball team and lettered during his senior year. He received the Dave Null "Most Coachable" Award as a senior and scored a career high 10 points against Warren Harding this year.

Academically, Burgi earned a 3.75 GPA during his senior year which landed him a spot on the Massillon Washington Honor Roll. He volunteered for three years as an assist for the Tigers youth basketball camp and for two years, he was involved with the Massillon Chapter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America---a national organization which provides voluntary after-school programs for young people to promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

He will pursue a bachelor's degree in early childhood education at Kent State Tuscarawas.

"Cam is a wonderful young man and a very versatile basketball player," said Richard Tharp, Head Basketball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "He can really elevate on his jumper and has a soft touch to go along with great foot speed and court awareness. He has the ability to get to the basket and at the same time plays under control and keeps his teammates organized and involved. Cam is a great addition to our team and will bring a bit of calmness to the guard position which is always plays under duress. We are proud to have him wearing navy and gold."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
