Shockley Breaks Golden Eagles Scoring Record

New Philadelphia, OH – Kent State Tuscarawas hosted Salem University for their 2024 Christmas Classic on December 20, 2024. Although the Golden Eagles fell in a close game that went down to the wire, a historic moment made the evening unforgettable. With 3:34 left in the first half, Kyle Shockley broke the ALL-TIME SCORING RECORD for Kent State Tuscarawas with a fast-break layup. The crowd erupted in applause, honoring Shockley's remarkable 4-year career. The previous record of 1,646 points was held by Gunnar Tharp.

In the game, Kent State Tuscarawas was defeated by Salem University 93-97.

Kent State Tuscarawas was led by Kyle Shockley with 27 points, Vincent Roper with 11 assists, and Mekhi Johnson with 7 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles are set to play Miami-Middletown on 12/21/24 at 2:30 PM for the Final Day of the Christmas Classic.
