The Golden Eagles golf team posted their highest team score of the season, but still managed to pull out a runnerup finish in the Penn State Fayette Invitational held at Uniontown Country Club in Uniontown, PA on Saturday afternoon. A team score of 337 was 14 strokes off the winning pace of Penn State Lehigh Valley who was crowned champions with a 323. The Navy and Gold won the tournament last year when it was held at Duck Hollow Country Club in Uniontown.

They found the going a little tougher than in recent outings as the postage-stamp sized greens presented a small target for approach shots. As a team the Eagles could only manage five birdies on the afternoon.

Adam Matusik carded nine pars in a team low round of 42/39/81 and he was followed into the clubhouse by Kade Rainsberg's seven pars and a birdie for a score of 41/42/83. Nick Reeder shot an 86, while Dakota Wright, Bailey Campbell and Ciro Ciraci all had 87s.

Another title defense presents itself on Tuesday, September 17, when the Golden Eagles travel to Apollo, PA for the Penn State New Kensington Invitational at the Links of Spring Church.
