Golden Eagles Golf 8th At USCAA Championships

After round one of the USCAA National Golf Championships on the Penn State Blue Course in State College, PA, on Monday afternoon, the Golden Eagles found themselves in 8th place in a 19-team field.

With an aggregate score of 337, the Eagles trailed leader Johnson & Wales Charlotte by 36 strokes but are just six strokes from fifth place heading into Tuesday's final round of the two-day event.

Leading the way for KSU Tuscarawas was Nick Reeder with a round of 41/40/81, as he carded six pars, an eagle and two birdies. He converted the eagle on the par 5, 577 yard No. 5 hole and scored birdies on the 507 yard par 5 ninth hole and the 401 yard par four tenth.

Cole Eltringham went out in 43, but came home with a blistering 39 on the back nine recording four pars and a birdie for a round of 82. Cameron McIntosh had eight pars in his round of 41/43/84, while Nicholas Wolverton went out in 43 and came home in 47 for a round of 90. Scottie Sauernheimer shot 44/47/91.

As a team KSU Tusc converted on 29 pars, four birdies and an eagle.

The final round begins at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start to determine the Golden Eagles final place in the overall standings. It's the final tournament of the fall season.
