Softball Hosts First-Ever Fall Classic

Softball Hosts First-Ever Fall Classic

The Kent State Tuscarawas Softball Team held its' first-ever Fall Classic at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School on Saturday, September 15, 2018. The hosts went 1-2 on the sun splashed day while forging some great softball ties with visitors whom they have never played.

The Golden Eagles started the day off losing to powerful Cuyahoga Community College 11-1. It was the closest game of the game for Tri-C who finished the day unbeaten at 3-0, but a loss nonetheless for the home Navy and Gold. In the second game, the Navy and Gold beat Penn State Beaver 11-9 while they lost the nightcap to Penn State Fayette 14-1. The tournament was a great success and the Golden Eagles hope to repeat the schedule again next fall. There were six games held on the day that was supposed to be played on two fields.

Heavy rains swamped the infield at New Philadelphia's Tuscora Park the night before the tournament and all games were moved to TCC.

The Golden Eagles now await their first game of the spring season when they host Lakeland Community College in a home doubleheader on March 16, 2019 at 12 p.m.
