Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2018 Claymont High School senior to their softball team. On May 4, 2018, Madi Garrett signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles.

Garrett was a four-year letter winner for the Mustangs, played infield and has a current batting average of .371 and a .462 on-base-percentage. She has won the Practice-Player-of-the-Year Award three consecutive seasons, earned Honorable Mention District 5 honors and was a two-year letter winner in basketball. Garrett has also earned High Honors, Honor Roll and Student-of-the-Month academic honors at CHS.

"It will be exciting to have Madi in a Golden Eagle uniform," said Chuck Peach, Head Softball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "She is a very reliable hitter and fielder and will answer the call when a play is to be made. She's another great acquisition from Claymont who is going to step right in and make us a better team. Madi can hit with power and as evidenced by her off the field achievements she is a great student and school ambassador."
