Kent State Tuscarawas softball recruit and Sandusky Perkins High School senior, Dessa Dubbert, hit two home runs in a loss Monday at Shelby to tie her school's record with 18 career homers. Dubbert, whose homer last Thursday sparked a comeback win at Lake, has hit seven home runs this season with 20 runs batted in and is batting .426. Of her 23 base hits, 14 have gone for extra bases. Dubbert also has walked 18 times. She is a four-year letter winner for the Pirates softball team, as well as a three-year letter winner on the PHS volleyball team. In softball she has been named to the First and Second Teams (2017 & 2018) of the Sandusky Bay Conference (SBC), led the conference with the Most Homeruns as a junior, served as team captain, and has also earned her school's Offensive Award as a sophomore and junior. In volleyball, she was named Most Improved player in her junior season and served as a team captain as a senior. Dubbert is also a member of the Bio Club, Student Council, Pirates 4 Peers, Move to Stand and 2nd & 7 organizations at Perkins High School.
