Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2019 Indian Valley High School (IVHS) senior to their softball team. On May 7, 2019, Morgan Spillman signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles.

Spillman, a centerfielder, is a three-year letter winner for the Braves softball team and earned Second Team East District honors as a junior when she also was named to the Second Team of the Inter Valley Conference (IVC). She has had the highest fielding percentage for IVHS over the last two seasons and is one of the team's top hitters over the same span. Spillman is currently ranked fourth highest in batting average for the Braves, was fifth as a junior and ranks in the Top 20 IVC hitters on the season. She is 20th in her class with a 3.975 GPA, has made the honor roll all four years of high school, earned four academic letters and a pin for the highest grade in government class. She plans to major in accounting technology at Kent State Tuscarawas.

"Morgan is the total package when you talk about student athletes," said Chuck Peach, Head Softball for Kent State Tuscarawas. "She is book smart in the classroom and also street smart when she's on the field. She is very dedicated and is all business when she steps between the lines. She can hit for power, has lots of speed and is one of the top signees for us this year. I expect great things from her in and out of the classroom."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
