Golden Eagles Mason Tabbed As USCAA National POTW

April 27, 2021---NORFOLK, VA

The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) has recognized KSU Tusc's Harley Mason as the National Player of the Week. Mason had a huge week to close out the season, going 7/8 at the plate in a DH vs. Clark State with 4 RBIs and a double and a triple. She also picked up the win on the mound in the second game, winning 4-1 while going the distance (7 innings) and allowing just five hits, no walks and striking out 8 batters. She pitched two innings of shutout relief in the first game with one walk and four strikeouts.

Against Bryant & Stratton Cleveland, Mason tossed a 5-inning one-hitter in the Golden Eagles 8-0 win. She walked just one batter and fanned 12 Bobcats hitters. At the plate she went 4/7 with 7 RBIs and scored four runs in the DH sweep. She also recorded her first collegiate homerun in the second game of the day.

For the week she amassed 11 hits in 15 trips to the plate---a .733 batting average---while also knocking in 11 RBIs. On the mound she pitched 14 innings, allowed just six hits while striking out 24 batters and walking just two. Mason ranks 4th in the USCAA in batting average hitting .500, is 5th in OBP at .531 and is 3rd in slugging percentage at .767. In pitching, she is 3rd in strikeouts per game at 8.50 and is 4th in ERA at 2.25. She struck out 34 batters in 28 innings of work. 

Mason, a freshman, is majoring in biochemistry at Kent State Tuscarawas and is from East Canton, Ohio.
