Eagles Sign Pirates Yoder To Letter Of Intent

Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2024 Garaway High School senior to their softball team.

On Friday, Grace Yoder signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.

Yoder, plays second base and as a utility player for the Pirates and is on track to become a four-year varsity letter winner. In 2023 she was selected to the Second Team of the Inter Valley Conference South Division and Honorable Mention East District. She has served as a Pirates team captain for two seasons and tied the Garaway record for most stolen bases in a season with 16. She has a total of 24 stolen bases in her GHS career.

She has earned an academic letter in all four years of high school and is a two-year member of the National Technical Honor Society. She also served as treasurer for the NTHS organization. Yoder is OSHA-10 certified, which is a 10-hour class intended to provide workers with awareness of common job-related safety and health hazards. She is CPR certified and is a senior ambassador at Buckeye Career Center, a member of Skills USA and the Drug Free Club of America. 

Yoder has volunteered for the youth softball program as an instructor and a coach for all four years of high school in the Garaway School District. 

She will pursue an Associate's of Science and a Radiologic Technology degree at Kent State Tuscarawas.

"We are extremely excited to have Grace join us," said Larry Schall, Head Softball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas." She is going to be a great addition to our campus community and team and will help lockdown our middle infield, while also seeing some time in the outfield. She is a force at the plate and on the base paths due to her speed."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
