Power Hitter Watson Joins KSU Tusc Softball

Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2024 Buckeye Trail High School senior to their softball team.

Late Sunday, Morgan Watson signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.

Watson plays first and third base and is on track to be a four-year varsity starter for the Warriors softball team. She is a three-time East District honoree having earned Second Team honors in 2021 & 2023 and Honorable Mention in 2022. She has also received Second Team Inter Valley Conference twice along with an Honorable Mention. She has a career batting average of .383, slugging percentage of .658, on base percentage of .461, on base slugging percentage of 1.119, 70 RBIs and a fielding average of .985.

As a sophomore she achieved an all-time high in batting with a .429 season average, 34 RBIs, a .875 slugging percentage, an on-base percentage of .541 and smacked five homeruns. She was selected for three All-Warrior and three Academic Awards at BTHS as well.

At Buckeye Trail, Watson has been inducted into the National Honor Society and has received the All-A's Award her sophomore and junior years and for the first half of her senior year. She has also won two awards in both mathematics and science and one welding award.

She is a member of the Drug Free Club of American, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Skills USA and the Stars Program for future leaders. Her community service includes can food drives, benefit car shows, leading school tours at Mideast Career & Technical School, the local senior center, East Guernsey youth softball league and the Challenger League.

She will pursue a degree in engineering technology at Kent State Tuscarawas.

"We are so excited to have Morgan join us, she is a wonderful student and athlete," said KSU Tuscarawas Head Softball Coach Larry Shall. "Morgan is a power hitter and has stellar hitting and on-base percentage averages. We look forward to Morgan continuing her success with our program."
