Hosting the campus' first-ever wrestling quad, the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles got the day off on the right foot as they beat the University of Toledo 42-20 in Founders Hall Gym. The Navy and Gold recorded six pins on the day after falling behind 12-6.

Freshman, Ray Velez (Cleveland, OH / Villa Angela St. Joseph) got things going with a first period pin in the 125lb. weight class to give the Golden Eagles and early 6-0 lead. The Rockets had other ideas however, and notched two straight pins of their own to take a 12-6 lead before Lane Householder (Thornville, OH / Sheridan), Collin Mancuso (Milan, OH /  Edison) and Briar Cadle (Uhrichsville, OH / Claymont) got pins for the hosts who jumped out to a 24-12 lead. The Rockets managed to fight back to within 24-20 is a decision and a technical fall before the Golden Eagles recorded two more pins---courtesy of Jalin Butler (Akron, OH / Buchtel) and Noah Edwards (Uhrichsville, OH / Claymont)---and Carl Chaney (Cleveland, OH / Villa Angela St. Joseph) won by forfeit to complete the match.
