On the strength of four pins and a couple of forfeits, the Kent State Tuscarawas wrestling team downed visiting PSU Fayette 39-6 on Wednesday night.  It was the Navy and Gold's first win of the New Year and an important one to gather momentum ahead of the Golden Eagles Duals coming up on Saturday.

Spring semester newcomer, Elijah Nash, scored a 7-2 decision in a hard fought 125lb. match to start the night as the Golden Eagles soared to 21-0 lead before the Roaring Lions got on the board. Freshman, Ray Velez, won by forfeit while Austin Bailey and Lane Householder recorded pins for the hosts before PSU Fayette avoided a shutout with their only win in the match on a technical fall.

The Golden Eagles took control once again with two straight pins, as Collin Mancuso and Mason Contini made quick work of their opponents in the 174 and 184 lb. matches respectively as the gap widened to 33-5. A forfeit win by Carl Chaney in the 197lb. match put the wraps on the evening and KSU Tusc celebrated their first win of 2019.

On Saturday the Golden Eagles Duals will be held at Kent State Tusc as they host Grand Valley University, Slippery Rock, Mercyhurst NE and Niagara Community College. Wrestling begins at noon and doors open at 11 a.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $5.
