KSU Tusc Signs Poland Seminary High School Senior to Wrestling Team

Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2019 Poland Seminary High School senior to their wrestling team. On May 15, 2019, Clay Schafer signed a National Letter of Intent to wrestle for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles.

Schafer was a three-year letter winner for the Bulldogs wrestling team and garnered First Team Eastern Ohio Wrestling League (EWOL) honors in 2018-2019. He earned Second Team EOWL status in 2017-2018. He is very active in helping coach the Poland Youth Wrestling League, instructs during the Poland Youth Football Camp and has helped coach multiple youth flag football teams. Schafer also helps maintain the landscaping at the Poland Village Town Hall. He plans to major in nursing at Kent State Tuscarawas.

"Clay has a lot of family and team support behind him and he will do well for us," said Dave Schlarb, Head Wrestling Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "He has a great academic record and is a solid citizen in the Poland community as well.  He's going to vie for a for a starting position right away at 235 and will make us a better team and campus. We are very proud to have signed him as a Golden Eagles wrestler."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
