Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the recent signing of a 2019 Waterloo High School senior to their Wrestling team. On June 3, 2019, Tyler Ernst signed a National Letter of Intent to wrestle for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles.

Ernst, a 132lbs grappler, is a three-year letter winner for the Vikings and served as the captain for both the wrestling and football teams his senior year.  During his senior season on the mats, Tyler compiled 31 wins, capturing his second championship at the Crestview Cougar Classic.  He placed 4th at the Jackson Milton Invitational and capped off his wrestling career as an alternate to the state meet.  During his high school career, Tyler has also excelled in the classroom, earning a 3.6 GPA.  He was a member of the Homecoming court his senior year, and also took time to mentor young wrestlers in the community as a volunteer youth wrestling coach.

"We are really excited for Tyler to join our team," said Dave Schlarb, Head Wrestling Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "He has been a leader for his teams, and that is only one of his many outstanding characteristics.  We fully expect with his work ethic, that he will continue to earn achievements at the collegiate level.  Tyler is eager to get on campus and get to work with his teammates."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
