Wrestling Team Fares Well At King Of The Mont In Season Opener

The Golden Eagles wrestling team participated in the Second Annual King of the Mont wrestling tournament on Saturday, as two KSU Tusc grapplers finished undefeated (3-0-) on the day. It was the first tournament of the season for the young Navy and Gold who are laden with seven freshman on the twelve-man squad.

Both sophomore, Mason Contini, and freshman Blayne Erwin took first place in the 184 and 197 pound weight classes respectively while posting 3-0 records. Second-year wrestler, Collin Mancuso and newcomer, Derek Skeehan, both ended the day with 3-1 records on the mat and finished second in their divisions.

Freshman, Tyler Ernst was 2-1, while fellow first-year wrestlers Clay Schafer (4th) and Dylan Wilson (3rd) won two of their four matched to go 2-2.

The team won 20 matches in the tournament against the likes of Penn State Mont Alto, Penn State Fayette, Lacawanna College, Thaddeus Stevens, Camden County College, West Chester University and Keystone College,.

Next up for the wrestling team is the W&J Invitational hosted by Washington & Jefferson University on Saturday, November 9 at 9:45 a.m.

Blayne Erwin gets a pin and finished 3-0 at King of the Mont.

Derek Skeehan makes his escape and was 3-1 to finish second in the 285lb. weight class.

Mason Contini has control in this 184lb. match and was 3-0 in competition.
