On Saturday, the wrestlers hosted a home match for the first time this season and gained a split in the tri match against two bigger opponents.

In the first match against NAIA Lourdes University, the Golden Eagles lost 53-6. The lone wrestler to score a victory for the Navy and Gold was Mason Contini, who pinned the Gray Wolves Grant Pittroff at 1:36 in the first period. It was the first of two pins Contini recorded for the day.

The Golden Eagles squared off against NCAA D-II Ohio Valley University in their final bout and came away with their first win of the season, 30-23.

Contini pinned the Fighting Scots 184lb. wrestler with just :53 seconds left in the opening period, for the deciding match points and his second win-by-pin of the day. Four other Eagles grapplers, Tyler Ernst (149), Collin Mancuso (151), Chad Van Pelt (165) and Derek Skeehan (275) won their matches by forfeit over a depleted OVU roster.

Due to finals week and Christmas break, the Golden Eagles will have an extended break in their schedule and will not see action until Saturday, January 4, 2020 when they wrestle in the Jim Crytzer Invitational at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA.
