Volleyball Fights Hard But Comes Up Short At Carlow

The Golden Eagles Volleyball Team traveled to Carlow University in Pittsburgh on Thursday night and lost 3-1 in a dual match. The match was close throughout with the exception of the third set, but the young Navy and Gold fought hard against their USCAA Division 1 foe.

In the first set, the Celtics came away with a 25-18 win but the Eagles clawed their way to an exciting 27-25 win in the second to even the match at one set apiece. The third set was all purple and gold with the hosts winning 25-8. The fourth set however, was much different as KSU Tusc bounced back but lost 25-20.

Freshman sensation, Mya Blochlinger led the way for the Golden Eagles with 13 kills, 22 digs and four blocks on the night. Through four matches she is ranked atop the USCAA in hitting percentage at .527, first in points with 68, second in kills per set with four per game, third in total kills with 48 and is fourth in service aces with 10.

Against Carlow, Alexis Zehnder had 16 digs, Mackenzie Sentz 13, Jamie Myers 12 and Ciera Romig 11. Karlee Peach contributed 14 assists to the cause.

On Saturday, the Eagles travel to Penn State Beaver for a tri match where they will play against the hosts and Potomac State.
