The KSU Tuscarawas volleyball team dropped a four-set match to visiting Hocking College on Saturday in Founders Hall Gym as they fell to 0-4 on the season. The Golden Eagles lost the first set 25-23, won the second 25-20 in dominating fashion, before the Hawks closed out the victory 25-14 and 25-12.

A valiant effort was put up by the Navy and Gold through the first two sets. At one point they trailed Hocking 13-5 in the opening frame, but staged a huge rally and took a 21-20 lead as the two teams traded one-point possessions. The Eagles ended up losing by two, 25-23 and bounced back with a vengeance in the second set.

KSU Tusc soared to a 5-0 lead in the second set and led 21-14 before the Hawks responded to get to within 21-19. The rest of the set was highlighted by long volleys before KSU Tusc pulled out a five-point set victory 25-20, their first set-victory of the season.

The final two sets belonged to Hocking College and despite the final scores, were much more competitive than the outcomes indicated. It took a couple of long runs for the visitors to get control and close out the match.

Mya Blochlinger (Millersburg, OH / Hiland) led the Golden Eagles with 10 kills, 8 digs and 2 blocks, while freshman, Lilli Peterson (Mineral City, OH / Tuscarawas Valley) had nine kills and was one of five players with five digs each.

Corinne Sanders (Dover, OH / Dover) had 11 points and Jamie Myers (Grove City, OH / Grove City) scored 10. Megan Stotzer (Mineral City, OH / Tuscarawas Valley) had nine points and six assists and Alyssa Hughes (Mogadore, OH / Mogadore) had seven assists.
