The KSU Tusc Volleyball Team opened their season at home on Friday and lost a tri match to visiting Clark State 25-18, 20-15, 25-15 in Founders Hall Gym.

The visiting Golden Eagles controlled the first set of the best-of-five series, as the homestanding Golden Eagles struggled to find their way fielding a lineup of just four returning players. In the second set, it was KSU Tusc grabbing the upper hand as they led 4-3 after trailing early 3-0.

With the score 7-4 and KSU looking much more ready to play, the visitors ripped off seven straight points to take an 11-7 advantage. The set was tied 16-16 as the Navy and Gold fought back before five straight points spotted Clark State to a 21-16 lead. Again, the Golden Eagles mustered up a rally to get to within 21-20 before giving up four straight losing points and falling 25-20.

The final set was even closer as KSU battled their way to four ties---the last at 11-11---when they took control 14-12. The rally was short-lived however, as Clark State held the Eagles to just one point and scored ten straight points to close out the match with a 25-15 win.

Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was freshman Lindsey Seibert (Claymont) who recorded eight kills, six digs and three service aces. Lilli Peterson (Tusky Valley), also a freshman, added six digs and four kills, while sophomore Mya Blochlinger contributed seven kills.

The Golden Eagles will spend the weekend in Athens, Ohio as they participate in the Hocking College Round Robin Tournament.
