The Golden Eagles Volleyball team returned to action after a several-week layoff and earned a split in a tri match held in Founders Hall Gym on Saturday afternoon.

In the first match, the Eagles battled hard but lost in three straight sets to Lorain County Community College. The visiting Commodores were stingy and kept the lead for most of the afternoon as they commandeered a 25-21, 25-23, 25-23 win.

Mya Blochlinger led the way with 18 kills in 25 attempts, while Lincoln Raymond had 23 digs and Lindsey Seibert chipped in with 22.

The loss broke a three-game Golden Eagles win streak.

The second match did not start out well for KSU Tusc, as Lakeland Community College took the first set in a runaway 25-10. However, the navy and gold bounced back with a hard fought 25-22 win the second set to tie the match 1-1. It looked as if the Eagles had all the momentum as they rolled to a 25-19 win in the third set, but the Lakers responded by outscoring the Eagles 9-1 at the outset of the fourth set and pulled out a 25-20 decision to force a fifth set.

KSU Tusc jumped out on top 3-0 to begin the deciding set, but the Lakers got to level at 4-4. The rallies were long and hotly contested before the Eagles took command 10-5 and rode their momentum to a 15-7 victory.

The Eagles were up to the task in the second match as Blochlinger recorded 23 kills, while Lindsey Seibert and Lilli Peterson both had 13. It was the expert passing of Corinne Sanders and the digging of Seibert and Raymond that set the Golden Eagles offense in motion. Sanders amassed 63 assists in the match that allowed the Golden Eagles front line to slam the ball down, while Seibert dug 40 balls and Raymond 33.

With the win, KSU Tusc is now 4-6 on the season. They travel to Penn State New Kensington for a tri match with PSNK and Penn State DuBois on Saturday, October 23.
