The volleyball team split a pair of matches in a home tri on Saturday, with the Eagles winning the matinee match but losing the finale in five sets.

In the opener, the Eagles took down Ohio University Lancaster in straight sets 25-15, 25-16, 25-17. Serving was the navy and gold's best ally as Taliyah Johnson and Lizzy Keller both served up 10 winning points from the service line and Lindsey Seibert added nine.

The final match against Miami University Middletown started out the same way, with the Golden Eagles taking the initial set by a 25-13 score. With the score 18-12 in KSU Tusc's favor, Seibert served up seven straight winners to double the score on the Thunderhawks for a 24-12 lead. They would close the set with a service ace to take a one set lead.

MUM came back to take the second set in a 25-23 thriller as the Eagles squandered a lead near the end, but they bounced right back to take a 2-1 set lead by winning the third set by the identical tally of 25-23. The Thunderhawks marched back to take the fourth set by the same 25-23 score to send the match to a deciding fifth set.

After the set break, the Golden Eagles were very determined and took a 4-0 lead which ballooned to 10-5 and things began to look very rosy. However, every time the Eagles tried to pull away from the 'Hawks, they misfired on shots to the back line as the pendulum of momentum swung back to MUM who forged their way to a 14-14 tie.

The visitors would take the last two scores of the set to win the match 3-2 on a couple of mishandled KSU Tusc balls.

The Golden Eagles are idle until Friday, October 7th when they travel to Lorain County Community College for a dual match against the Commodores at 6:00 p.m.
